Why do conservatives think the economy is more important than the environment?

The economy can heal itself in a few years.
The environment will take thousands of years to repair itself. It is a long term thing. We must go green, use cleaner energy, etc.
Why should we improve the economy in the short run while pissing on the future generations who will have to inherit this ailing planet?

Because the economy means $$, and conservatives value THAT over EVERYTHING.
The economy can heal itself if we get rid of all the liberals in office. The economy is imporant and the eviroment is already protected. We DO NOT need to go green. There is no man made climate change. Stop being a sheep
Because if the economy crashes, so does everything else…including the environment.
That is not to say that the environment isn’t important, just that the economy is a more pressing issue.
This is the only planet we currently have. We should learn to take better care of it.
So, how do you pay for this ‘alternate energy’ when there’s no money? And economies don’t generally fix themselves as long as there is a goverment department involved.

because working folks do not need clean air and water. we have to take what we can get, and if that’s poisoned air and water, so be it (as long as rich folks are getting richer)…

Because we’re not arrogant enough to believe that we can control the climate of worlds and we know that any of your ‘green’ measures will have ZERO effect on the climate but could be ruinous to our economy.
We already protect the environment, now we need to protect the economy from shameless profiteers.
It isn’t. But man-made global warming is a hoax designed to justify eugenics and population control. Just look at what they do with GMO’s and artificial sweeteners, ect. genetically modified organisms kill the organic organisms (IE: Genetically modified salmon). This is the real problem with our environment. Pesticides, GMO’s, MSG, Aspartame, Prozac.
Your Utopian ideology is the result of good intentions, so I’m not trying to be mean. You need to understand that your ideals are massively oversimplified and underdeveloped. Conservatives aren’t inconsiderate greedy pigs who hate the earth. Conservatives, for the most part, feel we shouldn’t sacrifice our ability to economically compete in the global market for governmentally forced “tree hugging”, for lack of a better term. I am fiscally conservative (though not socially) and I care about the environment just as much as the next person, I just feel there arre better ways to handle it.
The premise of your question is wrong. I am one conservative who cares about the economy and the environment. Our economy is sick and needs immediate tending. The environment is healthy. No plant or animal species are dying off for artificial causes.

Why do liberals think humans are at fault for something that has been going on before humans were around? Climate change has been around for billions of years, much longer than humans have been around. What caused the ice age? Was a bug farting too much or maybe they were driving around in SUVs? What killed the dinosaurs? Was it dino farts or maybe it was their propane powered grills?
If you are concerned about it you shouldn’t be wasting precious energy on yahooanswers. Environmentalists are the worst because they don’t practice what they preach. Get rid of your cell phone, get rid of your home, get rid of your car, eat berries and leave the rest of us alone.
