What is the best resource for information on investing?

I am searching to find the best resources available for someone who is new to investing. My knowledge is limited on the subject and I am attempting to find a solid cornerstone to begin building an understanding of the investment world. Any advice as to where to begin would be most appreciated!
I would subscribe to national magazine such as Smart Money or Forbes. My choice is Investors Business Daily as a source of data and its educational value. I kind of feel you need to expose yourself to several investing approaches. The single most important investing strategy is define investing rules to follow through thick and thin. Your rules should be “for you, by you.” Usually personal investing rules mature over time. It is important to not violate your rules. But, in reality, we all do break our rules. And need to relearn why we have those rules. I will offer one opinion: the $5 stocks are usually $5 for a good reason and should be avoided. No matter how tempting a “cheap stock” seems to be. It is cheap; but, not inexpensive.
