Why do conservatives think the economy is more important than the environment?

The economy can heal itself in a few years.
The environment will take thousands of years to repair itself. It is a long term thing. We must go green, use cleaner energy, etc.
Why should we improve the economy in the short run while pissing on the future generations who will have to inherit this ailing planet?

Would a degree in finance be a waste if I think I want to do sales?
I am a freshman in college and I am trying to choose my major. I keep going back and forth between general business administration and business administration with a concentration in finance. I know it is possible for me to get $40K to $50K right out of college with a finance degree. Is that possible in sales? I live in Houston, Texas if that helps. What should I do?
Do you think our grade schools should have mandatory classes that teach the fundamentals of finance?

I am a full-time college student already looking to start my own business. But since I am in school I haven’t really developed any specific skills in which to start a business. I am just looking for ideas of what everybody thinks a college student would be good at.
What do you think about a double major between Finance and Accounting?
