Minister for Finance in the newly elected Irish government has said that the previous calculations regarding the size of the ‘black hole’ in Irish banks may not be as bad as estimates foresaw last week. Although apparently not privy to new information, and still of the opinion that 10 Billion will not be enough to plug the gap, Mr Noonan said the previous estimates were ‘miscalculations’

The economy can heal itself in a few years.
The environment will take thousands of years to repair itself. It is a long term thing. We must go green, use cleaner energy, etc.
Why should we improve the economy in the short run while pissing on the future generations who will have to inherit this ailing planet?
