I have a paypal account and a bank account. Is paypal similar to a secondary bank account? Can I use paypal by itself to make payments, or do I need to link it with my bank account to submit payment? I am asking this question, because every time I log in to paypal, it says that I have zero dollars on my account. I wonder what that means. I have money on my bank account. Why doesn’t it show up in paypal? So, is paypal like a separate bank account or what?

When stock goes public its pretty hard for the general public to get into the IPO but if you can purchase the stock as early as possible on the first day of trading you should still get a good price. For example recently LNKD shares were sold for $45 but by the time the stock opened shares were already at $80. How can you place an order so as to have purchased that stock before it reached that high?

Is it better to purchase stock from the Internet or a Stockbroker?

I have very little experience in this and previously used Sharebuilder to buy two small stocks. Previous posts said to use a big stockbroker company like EF Hutton or Fidelity Investments. Also, do you get a certificate or piece of paper certifying that you do own stock? (I have never gotten anything official in the past). I want to buy one share of Harley Davidson stock for my niece as a graduation gift. Any help is appreciated.

My husband purchased stock in a private corporation. The corp. is in the process of printing out the stock certificates for the investors and they want to know whether or not we want just my husband’s name on it or both of our names on it.
