What are good books for a new stock investor?

Also do any of these software programs I see on infomercials work?

Would it make sense to seek an investor for an upscale franchise?

When I think about franchising, I think about Subway and Quiznos and McDonalds and all that. But I would like to open up a more upscale restaurant I wanted to know if it would be appropriate to seek funding for a franchise like that?

I mean, what would I have to bring to the table to see funding for something like an upscale restaurant? If it is appropriate to seek funding for a franchise, that is.

How does the timing of dividend payments influence buy/sell decisions for the income investor?

How does one time purchases and sales of stocks relative to the payment of dividends?
I believe that one has to own a stock for some fixed period of time in order to have earned the next quarterly dividend. What rules are in place here? Thanks.

What career best suits a real estate investor?

I’m currently about to graduate from college and have already made some investments in real estate that are panning out as we speak. Once I graduate I will have a lot of free time on my hands, and so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good career that would help me continue to learn the ins and outs of property investment. I have already considered the job of Realtor, Property Locator, and Loan Officer- anything else would be very helpful. Thank you in advance!

What rational investor would keep dumping funds into a stock that performs like the Iraq war?

How much sense would it make?

You’d fire any broker that gave the returns on your investment that this blunder in Iraq has.
dez604 (below) The nightmare began when Bush decided it would be a great idea to invade Iraq.

The nightmare will continue until America leaves Iraq. Don’t blame Clinton and Pelosi and everyone who isn’t a Republican for Bush’s bad decisions. Bush allowed Rumsfeld to disban the Iraqi Army. That decision was the nail in the coffin. Invading Iraq in the first place was a bad idea. Disbanding their military made it mission impossible.

Locutus1of1 (below) Yet again comparing Iraq to the 3rd Reich and Japan?

No comparison between Iraq’s ability and Germany/Japan’s capability. Also, America was attacked by Japan and Germany declared war on the US.
Locutus1of1 – “We are not the same people we were then.”

Disagree. America was not willing to enter WW-2 until the attack on Pearl Harbor. WW-2 began years before the US got involved.
