SOG Aegis: The Everything Knife

The planets have aligned in the SOG Aegis and a nearly perfect lightweight tactical and larger sized EDC blade has been created by SOG. It is no secret that I advocate LIGHTWEIGHT, well-built, fast deploying, solid folders that use good materials. Oh yeah, I want these knives to look cool, have a deep, tip-up pocket clip, and have an affordable price. It sounds like a lot to ask for but it really isn’t. In this quest to promote these design criteria I haven’t relented and indeed my high rating of the SOG Flash series knives is because they achieve many of these qualities so fully. Enter this Desert Digital model of SOG Aegis. Indeed this is the exact coloration I encouraged SOG to make (in the Flash series), of course utilizing the much more popular (and useful) plain edge which I also advocate. And of course, at least for now, they can’t keep it in stock and it’s a popular choice. In this Desert Digital coloration and with the black TiNi coated AUS-8, 3.5 blade, it is a striking knife for those who appreciate tactical items. But the looks would count for nothing if the design elements failed to deliver utility and possible defensive capabilities. From my study of the design, the Aegis should deliver on all accounts. The drop point blade offers a wickedly sharp tip while still offering plenty of belly for slash cuts. Add to this an auto-like assisted opening (love SOGs opening), outstanding subdued and DEEP pocket clip thats mounted on the correct end (tip up, reversible

  2. Hey Nutn, I just wanted to say keep doing a great job. Your videos are awesome. I have a question? Due to local laws in my area, I am unable to carry a auto or assisted opening knife. I took the spring out of my SOG Aegis and now when I open and close the knife its really rough. I was wondering if you or anyone else know where I could get some brass bushings to try and fix this. Any other ideas would be helpful. Thanks

  14. I would like to a agree it to be a 10 out of 10 knife but after seeing a another vid comparing the aegis to a Benchmade barrage. Wish SOG release a ambidextrous knife, however benchamde was more expensive. I’ll wait till I see that kind of knife being release by SOG. Currently own a Kershaw Blur Wally’s world all black edition.

  15. can someone who knows more about knives than me tell me what kind of knife is in modern warfare 2?

  16. QUAAAA QUAAAA QUUUUAAAAAAA

  17. @Luccian22
I think he means ‘The Nutnfancy Project’ :)

  18. Dude….what is TNP?:)
Sorry for the stupid question but i’m from offwhore and i realy dont know…

  19. Concerning steel liners, I think it depends entirely on the purpose of the knife. For just a PDW (personal defense weapon) the lack of a liner could be a huge plus because it allows the knife to be so much quicker.

On the other hand, having a steel liner in your folder gives a fair amount of good weight to the knife that lets you get a good bit more power in a swipe (if you ever had to do that).

It really just depends on what you’re going to use it for.

  20. Just got my digi camo version of this today, actually a bit suprised it ended up getting to Australia, bought mine direct from SOG, took about 2 weeks from USA – AUS so im fair happy with that, amazing knife, didnt have a “Opened by Australia Post for inspection by Customs” on this one though!! haha

  21. Been a year since I got my first Aegis and it’s lived through everything I’ve had to put it through. I still love this knife. I carry it EVERY DAY. It’s outstanding!!!

  22. whats the lock system on this knife?

  23. I just bought this knife, and then lost it. Ruined my week.

  24. don’t know where you looked or when you got your Flash II, but the Flash II DOES come in digital desert camo ;)

  25. Appreciate TNP-your reviews have assisted me in building my knife collection (and handgun collection too). Just received the SOG Aegis and Flash II-love the look of the knives overall, flat grind and the sharpness out-of-the-box, but disappointed how cheap they feel and how much play side-to-side and up and down, even after I adjusted the pivot screws. I know its a light duty EDC/Tactical folder, however, I’m not sure if I’ll keep them. Keep the reviews coming. A true patriot. Dr. C

  26. @mustangfootball63 haha, no. i have lots of knives and guns and shit. kids are afraid to put me in the locker

  27. @fritdawg
