  1. Well said Sir! Good presentation of crucial content. How do we organize to counter the bullies, shills, & trolls who plague social networking sites? How best to counter a misinformation machine that uses sites like this to further their aim? The trolling at the The Whitehouse channel astounds me. There is so much of it, and most is strawmanned. I can only assume it is empowered by those with something to lose. We need fact checking resources to politely, and undisputedly counter them. Please!

  2. Rosenkrantz, Kessler, et al…Robert Reich left the Clinton Administration in 1996 after having done all he could to counter Robert Rubin and his neoliberal cronies. The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act was not until 1999.

  3. the audio sucks on this. Too bad. The message is great.

  4. The repeal of Glass-Steagall happened years after Robert Reich left the Labor Secretary position.

  5. What’s your point, Rosenkrantz? It’s easy to do ad hominem on anybody who served in government. Sure, Reich was in on the Clintonian free trade democrats-as-moderate-republicans era dealing. We know this. He’s been an interesting commentator in the decade since, and he says things not many others seem to have the balls to say.

Two ?? – first, what major things in this video do you specifically disagree with? Second, if you were in Reich’s shoes in that clintonian era, what would you have done?

  6. the deconstruction of Glass-Steagall was lead (in the end anyway) by Phil Gramm and his co-conspiritors Bliley and Leach. it is called the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.

  7. @JWKessler You do realize that Reich is saying that as a CYA, right? Kinda like Richard Clarke’s z-grade acting during 9/11 commission hearings & feigns to 9/11 families, “I’ve failed you.”

I hope for your sake you actually learn to discern difference between someone’s rhetoric & their actual actions.

I ‘get’ that it happens, but really it’s still hard to fathom why people who otherwise use it several times daily, yet for some reason their scumbag-radar goes dead when dealing w/ Gvt.Commissars

  8. Wow Mr Reich,Thank you for speaking the truth.

  9. @RosenKrantz666 Robert Reich: Glass-Steagall broke down barriers between commercial and investment banks. “Had Greenspan not supported in 1999 Congress’s repeal of the Glass Steagall Act, which separated investment from commercial banking, we wouldn’t be in the soup we’re in to begin with.” [Breaking Up the Big Banks, and Why Congress Won't Do It, Huffington Post, 10/26/09]

  10. Hesus Cristos, more financial sophism from the smug midget that was part of the SAME TEAM that repealed Glass-Steagall Act.

Liberals be warned: there’s ZERO difference between Dems & GOP, when it comes to ACTUAL economic & foreign policy. ZERO. What they advertise vs.REALITY is a light yrs apart.

Socialist economist is an oxymoron. Like asking a plumber to perform neurosurgery.

Even w/out Glass-Stegall, derivatives ARE ILLEGAL as they’re FRAUD: IOU’s based on NON-Existent ‘assets’ Ponzi’ed.

  11. I can barely hear Professor Reich.
