Read more: technology.newscientist.com A robot developed by roboticists at the University of Pennsylvania is made of modules that can recognise each other.
so its task is rebuildinng and destroying itself?
it seems you robots have not masterd the force of gravity yet brainee
3:03 *ding* microwave… ready
Just like the Iron Giant!
@MrOnatopial This was created by very smart people. Probably smarter than you, if u average smart. And to say something like “stupid” to this its very stupid.
behold, future lego
wow…stupid
I laughed so hard at this I couldn’t type for a while.
Don’t these guys watch SG1? Can you say REPLICATORS? Sure they’re cute now when all they can do is toddle around, and each module size of a coffee cup, but wait untill they’re able to self replicate and each module is the size of an atom. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
That’s crazy!
Sooo… Was it’s task to fall over? xD
I know another robot that reassembles itself when damaged…
The T-1000!
SKYNET FTW
Haha@ the end … a fall … but a fall forward!
Cool! Using this technique a vehicle on Mars could drop a broken or malfunctioning part, and “heal” itself with spare parts?
Couldn’t they get someone to narrate who doesn’t sound like Al Gore?!
Instead of groaning when the robot falls over, the engineer cracks up. I’m happy to know that the people working on AI aren’t uptight lol (not sarcastic).
lol at 1:56 it is about to dock, but then fails “and then oh look another external disturbance is applied”… yeah the guy kicked it back again because the robot failed
look closely, later he is in the same position as in 1:56 but doesn’t fail
after succesfull self-reasembly the system stands up and continues its task
k everyone dissasemble and….to the lunch rooooooom!
robot:would you look at te time its lunch
what if one of those came out retarded and epileptic so it would blink its light rapidly and have a seizure
lol operation faceplant
Oh that ending was so epic. I was expecting it to take a step forward and… BAM
pretty neat.
lol @ comments though. i swear.. you could have the cure for cancer and youtubers will still talk bad about it xD
omg robopr0n
well dont kick it like a bitch.
it will be important in the future to have self-repairing and self-assembling technology. Stuff happens. If, say a robot’s arm through time loses some sensors it will be able to take off and replace the arm 100% correct to programming, literally plug and play, without any chance of human error or neglect.
For those afraid of the “evil machines”, they can only do what we program them to do, or programs they write because we programmed them how to write them. Real true AI will never be possible.
