Both major parties just seem more interested in debating the best way to do something than to actually do it. They are not placing hard deadlines for their interests. It’s like fanboys arguing over which game system is the best, while the sane person is enjoying playing the games.
They do better because they have more money. What you are describing is stereotyping the poor as being worse people than the rich.
The ship abandoner is a media hero for disemoderationalizing- if a person who interviews him congenially should happen to utilize an intersection some day- know your rights and responsibilities to the traffic light
Voting is dangerous because it enforces DC with the idea that people will be complicit in it’s criminal incompetence year after year- if no one votes for politicians there are none left- stop voting.
the definitions of words have definately changed, that’s for sure. conservative=spend, liberal=spend, all others, unpatriotic. Sad but true. The word “change” = “same”. And if you quote the constitution you’re a terrorist. Sad, sad state of affairs. When I say centrist, I mean by definition what it is now… So really, I’m a terrorist.
Ok, so if school isn’t a Gov’t run program, what other option is there?
You never proposed sending kids off to work?
“I say that if the kids don’t want to be there, let them go work.” <<< That was you, buddy.
So you are SURE there would be a low cost variety, if all schools were private? It’s a wild assumption, but I will go with it for a moment. Reminds me of the “low cost” varieties of medical care. Have you seen the outcome of that? It’s abysmal.
I never proposed privatizing it. That is something that you keep throwing out there. Unless you believe that the gov will never hold children to any kind of standard…
Although, if we didn’t have to pay so much tax in education, then people would have the money to send their kids to private school. Also, if there was only private school, then Im sure that there would be a low cost verity.
I never proposed “sending” kids off to work. Funny how you think… I suggested that they COULD work
Well maybe you should word things better.
“I say that if the kids don’t want to be there, let them go work.”
Not really a whole lot of ways one can take that.
We are doing what I propose? Which is what, exactly? I haven’t proposed anything yet.
The educational system is a mess, and needs to be overhauled, no doubt. Privatizing it is a mistake though.
Sending kids off to work resulted in too many abuses to count, the first time we tried it, and won’t be any different now.
You are prone to hysterics, aren’t you?
My point is to make kids earn what they get, not leave the “underprivileged” with no choices. I would not really care what the social or financial standing of the kids families are. If they don’t earn their way through school, I don’t see any reason in forcing them to be there.
We are doing what you propose right now, and it is a failure. You really need to wake up. Our schools are failing miserably, no matter how much money is thrown at the problem
Private schools do better for those who can afford to go to them. Leaving the underprivileged to the wayside is deplorable. Let them go work? Seriously? Just do away with child labor laws, eh?
So if you think kids should be allowed to make life decisions, such as whether to get an education or not, then why not let them vote too? Hell, let them drink alcohol and smoke tobacco and join the army. I mean, if that’s what they want then why not? After all, they know what’s best for them, right?
I think that if kids are allowed the PRIVILEGE of going to school, then they should be held to a standard. If kids had to earn it, then they would value it more. Right now they are not, and we have a ton of kids there sucking up resources. Not to mention being disruptive to kids who do want to learn. I say that if the kids don’t want to be there, let them go work.
As a matter of fact, there are many private schools. They tend to do way better the public schools.
So you think kids should be able to decide NOT to go to school? The reason they are forced to be there is because it’s our responsibility to make sure they have the proper tools for survival in a developed nation. A basic education is the primary tool. I agree that our education system needs some work, but that option should never be taken off the table for some anyone just because they can’t afford it. That would happen if all schools were private organizations.
I guess that we will agree to disagree then. I see government run health care, state or federal, as being against our best interest…. for reasons that are too long to post here.
As for education, again I could go on and on, but one big point for me is that kids who have no interest whatsoever in education are forced to be there.
Google “the story of stuff”. This garbage is being shown to 9 year olds…. it is a political opinion piece that is presented as fact. Pure indoctrination.
Ultimately, I think a public option should be run state to state, as opposed to being run by the Fed. I have a long theory about this which I can’t fit here…
How exactly has public school turned into indoctrination? I’m really curious. Privatizing education will only result in millions of people not getting an education because they can’t pay for it. Unless there’s another option…
Thats not what I said at all. What I meant was that if there was a public option, then our medical coverage would be decided by gov hacks (politicians).
Equating paramedics to proper health care is a pretty far reach. First of all few, if any, of you are doctors. Paramedics respond to emergency situations and stabilize people in immediate danger. You do not provide casual, or ongoing care.
Yes, I do have a problem with Gov education. It has turned into nothing more then indoctrination.
Could be opium.
I remember reading something, I think it was from Andrew Jackson or someone, saying that his favorite times were when he was sitting on his porch smoking his hemp pipe. XD
Well then perhaps I misunderstood, I did see it a while back.
Perhaps no one thought to smoke it until then, or maybe it was talking about opium.
/shrug
Beginning of which century? Do you realize that it was one of our major crops for centuries?
“Hemp is of first necessity to the wealth & protection of the country.” – Thomas Jefferson
“Make the most you can of the Indian Hemp seed and sow it everywhere.” – George Washington
“We shall, by and by, want a world of hemp more for our own consumption.” – John Adams
It was against the law NOT to grow hemp back then. You could be jailed in Virginia for refusing to grow hemp from 1763 to 1769.
Sadly, you make good points. I happen to work for one of the socialized EMS services as a Paramedic, and nobody seems to think it’s a bad thing.
In the 1600′s, ALL of our Firefighters were private companies. This resulted in A LOT of people dying, because the companies showed favoritism to putting out fires in rich areas, because the insurance companies paid them more. Poor people got screwed. Same thing with our health care system now.
So are you saying that if there was a public option, all the current doctors would just be fired or quit and be replaced with Gov’t hacks?
Paramedics are a good example of Gov’t run medical care. I am one, and I am no hack.
Do you have a problem with putting your kids education in the hands of the Gov’t? Public schooling is another of many socialist programs that works just fine.
Without these programs, only the rich elite would get education or emergency medical care.
@ecwaufisxtreme – If that was a joke, it was brilliant. Otherwise, I’d just like to take a moment to talk to you about the dangers of smoking crack…

My suggestion:
Lay dormant for the time being. It’s all a big show. Be patient. Arm yourself to the teeth. When they come to your doorstep to tell you how to vote, and rest assured one day they will, vote with a fucking bullet.
Rise. Refuse. Resist.
Give me Liberty, or give — oh hell, I will just TAKE Liberty. Liberty is not GIVEN, it has always been ours. We have always had the right to remove this Kleptocracy of a Government through force, if need be.
I’ve not heard him deny it so it must be true
is there any truth to the rumours about bayh’s wife being an alchoholic and a lesbian?
Hey fella, the germans invented the internal combustion engine and the automobile under the monarchial imperialst model……does that mean their system is better than ours?
