  1. @shadowpoetrk Do you honestly think that the government isn’t already corrupted? Since when did a lottery increase taxes? Your comments are vague and not supported or backed up by anything.

  2. This is not a good idea. I’m sorry, but aside from corruptions. Taxes would be increased to pay for it. Someone would have to pay for it, ie, the working tax payers. More defaulted loans. More govenment bureacracy established. This is not the way to fix the economy.

  3. @nuguns93 Although this is true, there would even be people that could possibly win that wouldn’t even be able to pay for their utilities. There have been instances with that show “Extreme Makeover” where because the properties were completely improved thus the property taxes then became re-assessed very high causing those people not to be able to afford their home. But remember, if this plan was put in motion employment would increase. Right now, most people cannot even afford their rent.

  4. Lol sorry, I know this is gonna sound stupid but, you wouldn’t buy a house for 50 bucks unless you could afford property tax. To afford property tax you’d need a job, which nearly 10 percent of the American people don’t have. So when it comes to selling these tickets, you automatically rule out 10 percent of Americans as part of the drawing.

  5. Why dont we simply liquidate the federal reserve toilet paper system and auction these homes off and all the banks assets. What is a put option worth on a hill of beans at Goldmen Sachs theses days.

  6. another thing to do is to drop the current 40 hour workweek to a 36 hour workweek. that is if lower unemployment is a goal.

  7. Dude, that’s actually not a bad idea. I REALLY like it!!! :D

  8. This seems like a great idea! I’d participate!

  9. Just like any lottery, to hit it with just one $50 ticket would be pretty hard.

  10. This actually is a good idea if it was sound. Like someone else said, “corruption ” would probably get its hand on this like everything else, but if it didn’t that would be great. Also, someone said that if you got a house for 50 bucks your would quit paying on yours, and that is true, I would do that for sure.

  11. That would be like saying “why should I go to work when I can just keep playing the lottery and then retire when I finally hit the big one” You can’t have a house for $50, you would have to purchase tickets on a chance of winning so it wouldn’t push more foreclosures.

  12. Sorry Bob but your idea will push more foreclosures in the market, in other words, hell if I can have a house for $50 why do I have to pay $2.5k every month to stay in my house?!!! I will just move on!!!

  13. JUST END NAFTA AND FREE TRADE

  14. Bob, you need to get this idea to someone in the government. Get out there and make a difference. People need to see this idea.

  15. “deficit” is a word the government created to keep our tax dollars in the bank. This means raising taxes to replenish the money being spent, while “keeping” money in the bank.
we never here about not having enough money for “space programs”. There is always enought money to build rockets. there is always enough money for governmental office furniture, vacations, and punching in for the required daly 2 minutes. Our government is way way way to big.

  16. LOL, he’s reading from a teleprompter.

  17. how do you see with your eyes closed?

  18. Hi Bob;
Not a bad idea, but I worry about corruption which now seems to pervade so much of our country.
Nonetheless, your solution could be combined with some other avenues and definitely help.
    Thanks for your thoughtfulness.

  19. Hey darrenvick,

Are you sure it’s not the guy from the comic strip Dilbert? Either way, I like his idea. Makes more sense than the stuff coming out of D.C. these days.
