Chossudovsky: China could already be world’s largest economy

It’s widely predicted that China’s economy will be the largest in the world by 2020, overtaking the US Only this week the country surpassed Japan to become the world’s second biggest economy by GDP. And earlier this year it officially overtook Germany to become the biggest exporter. However, Michel Chossudovsky from the centre for research of globalisation in Canada says China’s economy could ALREADY be the biggest in the world, as GDP is not representative of the actual strength of an economy.
China’s population is the largest…largest economy…economy of scale….scales weigh things…things can kill Americans…AMERICANS WILL BE KILLED BY CHINESE!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The largest Manufacturer is still the US Accounting 20% of world’s manufacturing. China is only 15% right Now. Your point may be more valid if China’s manufacturing surpasses the US, which may happen in a few years. However a lot of the services US provides are actually very important, such as aerospace research & development.

my father was forced to labour as a POW for 15 months in Germany. my parents fled two times for heavy fighting, once when the germans took over, once when british – polish – canadian troops took over. when they returned the first time to their home nothing was stolen, when they returned the second time everything was stolen.
my parents never forgot to see the passing soldiers as vulnerable human beïngs, no matter in what uniform they were dressed.

The first World War also has a very different history, than the Hollywood version you know. Your problem begins with that list of presumptive questions. Each one displaying a virtual encylopedia of misunderstandings and false propaganda. Germany was forced into war, they did not make a decision except it was defensive. Far from a complete treatment, it is however brief enough that even a retired trucker might be able to catch up a bit of education on the history I reccomend Pat Buchanans writings on the subject.
Ok everything I own comes from china But they do not have quality companys? They have copied every record every piece of clothing every Rolex and they pay no royalties and not a care about pattens. They have tons of gold, silver, coal, oil etc etc and can use it. We have 200 trillion of dept and cannot use our resources and the smartest people in the country the baby boomers are leaving the main stream to retire. We have tens of millions of un educated Mexicans to replace them. What a joke.

in an old agreement the “peoples republic of china” was promised it would take “hong kong” over from “britain” at the end of the 20th century.
so it happened but what was not expected was that “hong kong” took over “china” in a “trojan horse operation”.
@obsidianstatue On this one we are on the same page. I’m from that area and seen my fair share of good times as well as the bad that we are facing. Greed and over paid unions have caused the down fall of Detroit. You can not compete when you are are paying a man $34 a hour to put a screw and all day. We won’t even talk about the crazy retirement package.
@assoonas1 the problem with america is its unregulated market where greedy corporations are free to lobby the government, and privatize the profit and socialize the losses. its this nature of usa economy that is the problem where greedy capitalist will do anything in their power to seek maximum profit while disregarding the welfare of the people. detroit the rust belts of america is a good sign that says “greedy capitalist has been here”
@assoonas1 its ingnorant to say that China is going to sit still and do nothing while losing its comparative advantage in cheap labour(which is not, there are tens of millions of interior CHinese who would supply the huge labour force). we are already seeing the transition from cheap labour to high tech export(electonic products, car making, weapons export..etc) in years to come China will have the advantage in cheap labour from interior CHina with high tech exports in the coastal regions.

China is great and there is little any country can do about that. The only issue I have is when people come on here and bash the country that is still the largest econmy in the world even with all its problems.

China’s advantage is not ONLY that China has a hunge working force also China has a well regulated system that is the most efficient which obviously scared u so much calling it “unreal” China also has one of the world’s most robust industrial foundations and infrastructures. in a few years time China will have comparative advantage in both quality and quantity.
